Description
The Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JADS) is a fully funded postgraduate scholarship programme jointly established by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Japan. It aims to strengthen human resource development in Africa by providing outstanding African students with opportunities to pursue Master's degree programmes at selected universities in Japan. The scholarship covers full tuition fees, admission fees, a monthly living allowance of approximately JPY 150,000 (including accommodation), round-trip economy-class airfare between the scholar's home country and Japan, and health insurance. Additional support may be provided for research, thesis preparation, internships, and preparatory studies, depending on the programme. The scholarship is open to eligible citizens of African Development Bank member countries, including Togo. Applicants must be 35 years old or younger, hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, demonstrate excellent academic performance, and have at least one year of paid professional experience acquired after obtaining their Bachelor's degree within the preceding three years. Priority fields include energy, agriculture, health, engineering, environmental sustainability, and other development-related disciplines. Successful scholars are expected to return to their home countries after graduation and contribute to their economic and social development. Applications must be submitted through participating Japanese universities, which nominate eligible candidates to the African Development Bank for final scholarship selection.
